Professional Semester III
Parks Canada Environmental Education Internship
My final practicum experience has been a truly memorable experience. From the beginning I knew that my practicum would be like no other. In July, 2011, my husband and I had made the decision to relocate back to Nunavut. Though it was originally thought that I would be able to complete my practicum in one of the schools in Pond Inlet, the universe had other plans. Through discussions with Rick Mrazek and Garry Enns at Parks Canada, it was determined that I could complete my practicum through Parks Canada. Three projects were identified as priorities to be completed during my internship: adapt the Environmental Stewardship Certificate Program for Nunavut classrooms; develop a self guided walking tour and PowerPoint presentation for Qaiqsut, Cultural Heritage Site; and, develop classroom presentations specifically for classrooms in Pond Inlet.
